The timetable below is for the 2027 Fellowship Match for 2028-29 Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship positions (training beginning August 1, 2028, and ending July 31, 2029).
August 3, 2026 - Applicant Registration
Application period begins. Applications will be accepted on the SF Match website.
Please note that although registration is open until the Match deadline, applicants are encouraged to register as early as possible to allow time for application and interviews.
September 2, 2026 - CAS Target Date
This is the target date for applicants to complete the requirements for application distribution. This is NOT a deadline. Some programs accept applications at any time; others may set a deadline. It is the applicant's responsibility to contact training programs for individual deadlines. Programs are not expected to review any applications prior to this date.
December 2026 through February 2027 - Interview Period
Programs will interview the applicants they select.
Interviews may be either in-person, virtual, or hybrid. Each program is allowed to determine what is best for their situation.
April 6, 2027 (Noon Pacific Time) - Rank List Submission Deadline
Applicant and Program rank lists must be submitted to SF Match by noon Pacific Time.
April 13, 2027 (9:00 am Pacific Time) - Match Day
Match results are made available to programs, applicants, and US medical schools through the SF Match system. A login is required to view results.
April 14, 2027 - Post-Match Vacancies
Any vacancies that remain after the Match will be announced on the Immediate Vacancies page on SF Match. Vacancy listings are managed by the individual programs.
August 2028 - Training Begins
Orthopaedic Fellowship training begins.
NOTE: Applicants may signal up to 10 programs to indicate to prospective programs their high interest, along with their standard application and interview process.
AOFAS does not require programs to take into consideration any signals received. We encourage applicants to apply and interview at any program they are interested in, not just a program they signal.
