Rosemont, Ill. (October 9, 2024) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Kelly K. Hynes, MD, MSc, FRCSC, has joined the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery, as a member-at-large.
"The AOFAS has been so instrumental in jumpstarting my early career—from education, to building a network of trusted colleagues, to leadership opportunities," Dr. Hynes said. "The opportunity to give back and help more of my foot and ankle colleagues receive these same benefits is really an honor."
Dr. Hynes currently serves as an associate professor in the Orthopaedic Surgery Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Her past roles and awards at AOFAS include member of the Young Physicians Committee; fellow of the EFAS/AOFAS Exchange Program; and recipient of the Women's Leadership Scholarship.
"I truly believe that service to the AOFAS is critical for the advocacy, professional development, and community-building that our specialty requires to thrive," Dr. Hynes said. "I have benefited firsthand from many of the programs offered by the AOFAS, and I am eager to participate at a leadership level in the execution and oversight of these efforts."
