Michael S. Aronow, MD, Named AOFAS® President-Elect

Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgeon to Serve Leading Foot and Ankle Society

Rosemont, Ill. (October 5, 2022) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Michael S. Aronow, MD, was named President-Elect of the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS)®, the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Aronow will also serve as a member-at-large of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AOFAS.

“I am honored to have been elected as President-Elect of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, an international organization with members who are dedicated to promoting high-quality, ethical, and cost-effective patient care through the education, research, and training of orthopaedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals,” said Dr. Aronow.

Dr. Aronow is currently a foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Hartford in Connecticut, a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and Immediate Past President of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Aronow completed his orthopaedic residency and research and sports medicine fellowships at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, followed by an advanced foot and ankle surgery fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.

In addition to his role as President-Elect, Dr. Aronow serves as an AOFAS delegate to the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Board of Specialty Societies. Previously, he dedicated his time to numerous AOFAS positions, including the Managerial Board for Foot & Ankle International and Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics, member-at-large and Secretary of the AOFAS and Foundation Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the AOFAS Advocacy Council, and Chair of the AOFAS Health Policy Committee, Fellowship Match Committee, and Postgraduate Education & Training Committee.

Dr. Aronow added, “I look forward to working with our outstanding staff, fellow Board Members, and committee members to maintain and further advance our members’ ability to be the pre-eminent providers of foot and ankle care and help our patients lead active, healthy, and minimally painful lives.”
