Sara Lyn Miniaci-Coxhead, MD, MEd, Joins AOFAS® Board of Directors

Cleveland Orthopaedic Surgeon to Serve Leading Foot and Ankle Society

(October 1, 2026) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Sara Lyn Miniaci-Coxhead, MD, MEd, has joined the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery, as a member-at-large. 

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected to serve on the AOFAS Board of Directors,” Dr. Miniaci-Coxhead said. “I’m excited to work with the members of the AOFAS to keep improving our Society.” 

Currently, Dr. Miniaci-Coxhead is the chief of the orthopaedic foot & ankle division and medical director for musculoskeletal foot and ankle health at University Hospitals in Cleveland. After earning her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, she completed her orthopaedic residency at the University of Rochester and her foot and ankle fellowship at the University of Toronto. 

Dr. Miniaci-Coxhead is a past chair of the AOFAS Women’s Leadership Committee and currently serves as a member of the AOFAS Postgraduate Education Committee and a reviewer for Foot & Ankle International, the official journal of the AOFAS. Outside of the AOFAS, Dr. Miniaci-Coxhead is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and serves as the Foot & Ankle Section Editor of the Current Orthopaedic Practice journal. 

“I was motivated to pursue the member-at-large role out of deep commitment to service within our specialty and desire to help shape its future in a meaningful and lasting way,” Dr. Miniaci-Coxhead. “I am especially passionate about supporting the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and ensuring that AOFAS continues to foster a diverse, inclusive, and engaged membership.”

About Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeons
