Schaumburg, Ill. (October 1, 2026) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Daniel C. Farber, MD, has joined the Board of Directors of the  American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery, as a member-at-large.

“AOFAS has played a pivotal role in my career by providing education, mentorship, growth opportunities, and friendships,” Dr. Farber said. “Now, I look forward to giving back to our members by helping our Society focus on the next challenges and continue to be an inclusive and future-forward organization.”

Dr. Farber is the vice chair of academic affairs in Jefferson-Lehigh Valley Orthopaedic Department and Program Director for the institution's new orthopaedic residency program. After completing medical school at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, he completed his orthopaedic residency at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and foot and ankle fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Farber’s past roles in the AOFAS include chair of the Fellowship Match & Accreditation Committee and member of the AOFAS OnDemand Education Committee and AOFAS Nominating Committee. Currently, he serves as reviewer for Foot & Ankle International, the official journal of the AOFAS, and member of the Education Committee and Fellowship Match and Accreditation Committee.

Outside of the AOFAS, Dr. Farber has been involved with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Board of Orthopaedic Specialties, and the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society.

“I understand the importance of the role of the Board in steering our Society to best serve the needs of the membership, the specialty, and patients through direction of education, research, and advocacy as well as fiscal responsibility,” Dr. Farber said.
