Charlotte Orthopaedic Surgeon to Serve Leading Foot and Ankle Society

Schaumburg, Ill. (October 1, 2026) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Carroll P. Jones III, MD, has joined the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery, as a member-at-large. 

“Education, mentorship, and leadership have been an enormous part of my career, and I would love to bring that experience to the Board of Directors to help guide the AOFAS,” Dr. Jones said. 

Currently, Dr. Jones is a foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina. After receiving his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, he completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and his foot and ankle fellowship at Idaho Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship in Boise, Idaho, under Michael Coughlin, MD. 

In the AOFAS, Dr. Jones served as program chair for AOFAS Annual Meeting 2021 and a member of the AOFAS Education Committee. Dr. Jones is a current member of the AOFAS Fellowship Match & Accreditation and AOFAS Membership Committees. 

Outside of the AOFAS, Dr. Jones is the lead foot and ankle physician for the Charlotte Ballet, Hendrick Motor Sports, Carolina Panthers, and the Charlotte Football Club.
