She completed her medical degree and orthopaedic residency at UConn, followed by a foot and ankle fellowship at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

"I continue to be impressed when Lauren takes the stage," said foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon A. Holly Johnson, MD, from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. "She has a commanding yet approachable presence at the podium, capturing the audience's attention while making a strong point clearly."

The Women’s Leadership Awards are presented as part of the AOFAS Women’s Leadership Initiative, established in 2018 to support and encourage women in foot and ankle orthopaedic surgery. Funding for the Women's Leadership Initiative is provided by the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, supported by a grant from Treace Medical Concepts, Inc.

"I’m so humbled and proud to be considered for this award amongst such amazing women in the AOFAS who are my role models and inspiration," said Dr. Geaney. "As we celebrate female leaders in orthopaedics and within our Society, we can continue to inspire our female colleagues to achieve greatness and elevate our profession beyond what we’ve ever done before."
