The EIC is expected to model leadership and vision for the Journal, and to lead the editorial team in advancing the goals, scholarly achievements, academic leadership, and impact of the Journal in the field of foot and ankle surgery.
The EIC is an ambassador for the Journal to AOFAS members, the orthopaedic profession, and the field of foot and ankle surgery.
Responsibilities of the EIC include management of the Journal editorial policy and functions, including oversight of the peer-review process, all aspects of editorial review, timely management of the manuscript workflow, and coordination with the publisher.
The EIC is expected to oversee current, and to innovate future, special features of the Journal, which in the past have included editorials, letters to the editor, podcasts, special supplements, surgical technique videos, etc.
The EIC is responsible for leadership and management of the editorial board, (assistant and associate editors and reviewers), holding regular meetings thereof, and preparing reports for and meeting with the FAI/FAO Managerial Board at least twice a year.
