Sheldon S. Lin, MD, Named AOFAS® Secretary

New Jersey Orthopaedic Surgeon to Serve Leading Foot and Ankle Society

Rosemont, Ill. (October 15, 2021) – Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon, Sheldon S. Lin, MD, was named secretary of the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS)®, the leading organization for lower extremity medicine and foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Lin will also serve as secretary of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AOFAS. Sheldon S. Lin, MD

Dr. Lin is currently a foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon at Rutgers North Jersey Orthopaedic Institute and an associate professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, in addition to being an attending physician at University Hospital in Newark and Overlook Medical Center. After earning his medical degree from the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, Dr. Lin completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, followed by a foot and ankle fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin under renowned surgeons, John S. Gould, MD; Jeffrey E. Johnson, MD; and Michael S. Shereff, MD.

Dr. Lin is a longtime, active member in the Society, previously serving  as a member-at-large of the AOFAS Board of Directors from 2012-14, president of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation Board of Directors in 2011-12, program chair of the Annual Meeting in 2018, and a member of the AOFAS Research Committee. Dr. Lin also dedicates his time to several other orthopaedic organizations and journals.

“I am looking forward to my role as AOFAS Secretary,” Dr. Lin said. “The future of AOFAS lies in its members – mainly in the future of the next generation of surgeons and researchers who, under the guidance of our AOFAS leaders, are the ones who will discover new pathways, concepts, and techniques.”

Foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeons are medical doctors (MD and DO) who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries of the foot and ankle.
