Apply now to attend the AOFAS Resident Skills Course! Open to US and Canadian orthopaedic residents in PGY1 through PGY4 (during the 2022-23 academic year), this one-day course offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with foot and ankle surgical procedures.

With an agenda addressing Ankle Arthroscopy, Lateral Ligament Reconstruction (Broström), and Achilles Tendon Repair, the course will provide you with strategies to determine the best treatment methods for your patients and the skills to achieve successful outcomes.


The Resident Skills Course is free, but you must submit an application form. Selected residents will receive:

  • Complimentary registration and lab fees

  • A one-night hotel stay the night before the course (August 12)

  • Breakfast and lunch on August 13

Residents traveling more than 5 hours to attend the course may also request a $300 travel stipend.

Application Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Be an orthopaedic surgery resident in their first, second, third, or fourth year of training during the 2022-23 academic year, in a US or Canadian training program.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for and have a sincere interest in foot and ankle surgery

  • Be in good academic standing


Application Process

The applicant must:

  • Complete and submit the application

  • Include a personal statement (no longer than 500 words) describing their interest in foot and ankle, what they want to learn from this experience, and how they will share what they learn


Selection Process

Resident Skills Course participants are selected based on assessment of the resident's application and demonstrated interest in foot and ankle.
