Coding and Billing for the Foot and Ankle Surgeon

In this first-ever joint educational program from the AOFAS and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS), you and your coding team will participate in surgical coding scenarios on forefoot reconstruction, arthrodesis, office procedures, rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, tendon surgery, arthroscopy, trauma, and diabetic foot surgery. The course also features breakout sessions on wound care, multiple procedure coding, denials and appeals, and op note dissection.

Registration for the course is managed by ACFAS. If you do not have an online account with ACFAS, you will need to create one to register.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand trends in surgical coding, including how to code for new advances in the practice of foot and ankle surgery

  • Appropriately select modifiers for complex, staged, and multiple procedure cases

  • Understand where higher level E&M codes fit into your surgical practice

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

AOFAS designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ACFAS is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. ACFAS has approved this activity for a maximum of 12.5 continuing education contact hours.
