Support the OEF

Many projects have been accomplished to date by the AOFAS through funding from the OEF. The generosity of our individual and corporate donors are effecting real and tangible change. It is your support that enables the Fund to promote and execute the mission of the AOFAS in advancing research, education and humanitarian service.

Research – expanding knowledge for tomorrow’s practice

Research grants awarded annually by the AOFAS, with financial support from the OEF, have resulted in innovative insights in foot and ankle care, presentations at AOFAS and other educational meetings, articles in Foot & ankle International and other specialty journals, and larger grants from national funding sources. Funding is awarded for promising foot and ankle research projects on a competitive basis based on a blinded review of grant applications.

Educational Outreach – an investment in the future of the profession

AOFAS educational programs targeting residents and young members in practice are funded by the OEF. These include Resident scholarships, Regional Resident Review courses, Visiting Professor Program, Resident lecture series, and traveling Fellowship awards. These outreach programs cover the broad spectrum of foot and ankle in reconstruction, sports injuries and trauma and offer special early career opportunities.

Humanitarian service  Opening doors for volunteer outreach and professional growth

The AOFAS Overseas Outreach Project to Vietnam, funded by the OEF, provides life-changing surgery for disabled Vietnamese children and adults and challenging professional experiences for members. AOFAS members teach and work side-by-side with Vietnamese orthopaedic surgeons in the cities and villages of northern Vietnam.
