Annual Application Deadline:  December 1 to Volunteer for Future Projects

Step up to a challenging experience!

You have heard of interesting vacations in Europe, boat cruises through Alaskan waters, mountain climbing, and kayaking in scenic placVietnam logo no yr.jpges, however, the AOFAS has an even better adventure in mind for its members. It offers beautiful scenery, foreign language and unusual foods, and involves stepping out of your comfort zone -- both clinically and personally. It also affords the opportunity to do something truly special for others and return home with memories that will last a lifetime. Consider volunteering!

Surgeons spend two weeks working side-by-side with Vietnamese orthopaedic surgeons, seeing patients in the clinics, performing surgery, and each AOFAS volunteer presents at the AOFAS-sponsored annual orthopaedic educational conference in Hanoi. The project, scheduled over a four week period in May-early June, provides surgical care in four areas of northern Vietnam and in Hanoi.

The project is open to Active Members, Associate Members - Osteopathic, Candidate Members, and International Members. Surgeons volunteer for two weeks and pay for their own travel to Vietnam.  In-country expenses for food, lodging, travel, and logistics support for the AOFAS project are covered by a grant to AOFAS from the Outreach & Education Fund (OEF), the charitable arm of the AOFAS.
