Foot and Ankle Challenges Top AOFAS Specialty Day Program

ROSEMONT, IL, March 18, 2013 – The most current information available on foot and ankle surgery is the focus of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society's (AOFAS) Specialty Day program on Saturday, March 23 from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm at the McCormick Place Convention Center-Lakeside, Room E450, in Chicago.

Leading national and international orthopaedic surgeons specializing in foot and ankle surgery will participate in the program which consists of invited lectures, focused symposia, original papers, and journal club discussions. Program Co-Chairs, John G. Anderson, MD and Donald R. Bohay, MD, both of Grand Rapids, MI, will preside over the program. “Our goal in planning this meeting was to develop a program that highlights the most recent information on evidence-based medicine, techniques, procedures, technology, controversies, clinical dilemmas, and patient management topics,” says Bohay.

Specialty Day program highlights include:

  • Case-based symposia on the Valgus Ankle with Flatfoot and Bunion Surgery
  • Original clinical and basic science research papers
  • Journal club presentations highlighting the most significant articles
  • Special Masters Series including reflections from Drs. Michael Coughlin, John Gould, Ted Hansen, Roger Mann, Arthur Manoli, and Mark Myerson.
  • Joint session with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association titled “Controversies and Complications in Trauma of the Foot and Ankle.”
