Columbus Orthopaedic Surgeon Elected to Leadership Role at National Medical Society 

National Harbor, MD July 9, 2010 – Columbus orthopaedic surgeon, Ian J. Alexander, MD was elected Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society today during the Society’s 26th Annual Summer Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland.

“As Member-at-Large I will strive to make sure members at all levels have a voice and an opportunity to participate in planning the actions of and directions taken by the society.” said Alexander.

Dr. Alexander is Clinical Professor and Vice Chair, Chief, Division of Foot & Ankle, Ohio State University Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedics. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Dr. Alexander is currently a reviewer for the scientific journal, Foot & Ankle International (FAI). He served as program faculty for the AOFAS Annual Summer Meeting; chair, Complete Foot Course; program; chair, Specialty Day and Annual Summer Meeting. In addition, he has been a member of the Research Committee, Education Committee, AOFAS/POSNA Committee on Terminology and representative to AAOS MODEMs Committee. Dr. Alexander served as associate editor of Foot and Ankle International (FAI), and Journal of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society is a professional society of more than 1,800 orthopaedic surgeons specializing in diagnosis, care and treatment of patients with disorders of the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle.
