Invest in the future of our specialty... Support Campaign 50!
Introduced at the AOFAS Annual Meeting 2014 in Chicago, The Foundation's Campaign 50 aims to raise $3 million by 2019 to coincide with the celebration of the Society's 50th Anniversary. Your support enables The Foundation to expand current programs as well as develop new initiatives to advance the orthopaedic foot and ankle specialty through research, education, and humanitarian service.
Research – Discovering new treatments to improve patient care
With financial support from The Foundation, research grants are awarded annually to promising foot and ankle research projects, based on a blinded review of grant applications. The Foundation also is supporting the development of OFAR — the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Research Network — an AOFAS initiative to collect and share nationwide patient-reported data on foot and ankle treatment outcomes.
Educational Outreach – An investment in the future of the profession
AOFAS educational programs targeting residents and early-career members are funded by The Foundation. These include Resident Scholarships, Resident Review courses, Visiting Professor Program, Resident Lecture Series, and Traveling Fellowship Awards. These outreach programs enhance orthopaedic education and encourage early interest in the foot and ankle subspecialty.
Humanitarian Service – Opening doors for volunteer outreach and professional growth
The AOFAS Overseas Outreach Project to Vietnam, funded by The Foundation, provides life-changing surgery for underserved children and adults and offers challenging professional experiences for members. AOFAS members teach and work side-by-side with Vietnamese orthopaedic surgeons in the cities and villages of northern Vietnam.
Your donation will be divided between The Foundation and the OREF as follows:
- Gifts up to $1,000: 50% goes to The Foundation, 50% goes to the OREF.
- Gifts of $1,000 or more: Minimum of $500 goes to the OREF with the balance to The Foundation.
Each organization will acknowledge their portion of the donated funds received.
The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) organization that advances the AOFAS mission to promote quality, ethical, and cost-effective patient care. Through its funding of education, research, and humanitarian endeavors, The Foundation supports the Society's efforts to provide advanced training for orthopaedic surgeons and other healthcare providers, increase public awareness for the prevention and treatment of foot and ankle disorders, and serve as a resource for government, industry, and the national and international healthcare communities.
