Step up to a challenging experience!

The AOFAS Overseas Outreach Project to Vietnam is an adventure that offers beautiful scenery, foreign language, unusual foods, and the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone -- both clinically and personally. It enables you to do something truly special for others and return home with memories that will last a lifetime. Consider volunteering!

Surgeons spend one or two weeks working side-by-side with Vietnamese orthopaedic surgeons -- teaching, seeing patients in the clinics, and performing surgery. AOFAS volunteers present at the AOFAS-sponsored annual orthopaedic educational conference in Hanoi and at provincial hospitals. The annual project, scheduled over a four week period in May/June, provides surgical care and education in provinces in northern Vietnam and in Hanoi.

The project is open to Active, Candidate, and International Members. Surgeons volunteer time and pay for their own travel to Vietnam. In-country expenses for food, lodging, travel, and logistics support for the project are covered by a grant to AOFAS from the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundationthe charitable arm of the AOFAS.
