Through the support of its many individual and corporate donors, the OEF has made great strides in the areas of education, research and humanitarian service. Programs supported by OEF include the following:
AOFAS Research Grants Program
Research grants awarded annually by the AOFAS with financial support from the OEF have resulted in innovative insights in foot and ankle care, presentations at AOFAS and other educational meetings, published articles in Foot & Ankle International and other specialty journals, as well as larger grants from national funding sources.
AOFAS Traveling Fellowship Awards Program
AOFAS members are annually selected to travel and visit leaders in foot and ankle research and education. Supported by the OEF with a grant from DJO Incorporated, the AOFAS Traveling Fellowship Awards Program is designed to spur new thinking on clinical care and research, and foster collegial international relations among foot and ankle specialists.
AOFAS Overseas Outreach to Vietnam
The Society’s annual overseas medical project funded by the OEF provides corrective surgery to Vietnamese children and adults with lower limb deformities due to polio, cerebral palsy, club foot, and injury. The project includes an educational conference in which information on surgical care and rehabilitation is shared with more than 200 Vietnamese orthopaedic surgeons.

The projects accomplished by the AOFAS, through funding from the OEF, have been many and varied. Beginning goals have flourished with monetary support from the friends of the AOFAS and their gifts to its OEF.
