Welcome to IFFAS Online! The IFFAS is an organization that grew out of increased collaboration among international orthopaedic foot and ankle societies around the world. It is a federation of regional federations of foot and ankle organizations, whose members are orthopaedic surgeons specializing in medical and surgical care of the foot and ankle.

Awards for Best Papers                                                      

Authors of the best clinical paper and the best research paper presented at the IFFAS Triennial Scientific Meeting were recognized with the organization's prestigious awards.

Takakura Prize

The IFFAS Takakura Prize for the best clinical paper was awarded to Alastair Younger, MD, MBCHB, MSc of Vancouver, BC Canada for his paper Patient Expectation and Satisfaction as Measures of Surgical Outcome in End-Stage Ankle Arthritis: A Prospective Cohort Study of Ankle Joint Replacement vs Ankle Fusion. 

His co-authors were Mark A. Glazebrook, MSc, PhD, MD; Timothy R. Daniels, MD; Murray J. Penner, MD;  Kevin J. Wing, MD; Hubert Wong, PhD; Peter Dryden, MSc, MD; Karl A. Lalonde, MD. The prize is named in honor of and given by IFFAS founder Yoshinori Takakura, MD, who presented the award. It consists of a glass award and a $5,000 USD check.


The IFFAS President’s Prize for the best research paper at the meeting was awarded to Sang Gyo Seo, MD of Korea for his paper Correlation between Static Radiographic measurements and Inter-segmental Angles Measurements during Gait Using a Multi-segment Foot Model with a 15 Marker Set .

The prize at this meeting was named in honor of Mitsuo Kinoshita, MD, PhD, 2011-14 IFFAS President. The prize consists of a glass award and a $5,000 check.
