The IFFAS is an organization that grew out of increased collaboration among international orthopaedic foot and ankle societies around the worlld. It is a federation of regional federations of foot and ankle organizations, whose members are orthopaedic urgeons specializing in medical and surgicalcare of the foot and ankle.

Every three years orthopaedic foot and ankle specialists from around the world gather to share the latest scientific information on diseases and treatments in the specialty.
 

This year the International Foot & Ankle Society will hold its 6th Triennial Scientific Meeting September 29-30, 2017 in 
Lisbon, Portugal. The European Foot and Ankle Society, host federation for the congress, looks forward to welcoming international colleagues.

     “Dr. Martinus Richter, IFFAS Vice President/ 
Program Chair, and his committees have put together an excellent program of paper presentations, symposi​a, and posters,” says Charles Saltzman, MD, IFFAS President. Topics include forefoot, joint preservation, plantar plate repair, ankle fusion vs. TAR, sports arthroscopy, cartilage repair, diabetes/Charcot, trauma and more.

     “We have seen very strong interest in the program. The planning committees, comprised of foot and ankle experts from around the world, have reviewed and graded a huge number of abstracts and developed a program that will cover all aspects of our specialty,” he added. Awards will be given for the best clinical and research papers and the best poster.​ 

     The beautiful city of Lisbon will offer interesting sights and pleasant weather. The meeting and exhibits will be held at the Lisbon Congress Centre and social activities are being planned to highlight Lisbon's historic attractions.

CME Accreditation

The IFFAS scientific program, Sept. 29-30, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) for a maximum of14 European CME credits (ECMECs). 

After the meeting physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. 

The EFAS Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 28, has been accredited for a maximum of 5 European CME credits (ECMECs).
